The IPSC (Indian Public Schools Conference) conducted a Teachers Training workshop on the 24th of October 2010 at Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram for teachers teaching Physics, Mathematics, Economics and Accountancy to classes 11 and 12 and those teaching Social Studies to classes 6 to 10. The workshop was attended by around 60 teachers from various schools across the country.
The Principal, Dr.D.R.Saini warmly welcomed all the participants and stressed on the need for ‘learning from each other’ through such events. The chief guest, Mr.Ashok Chandra, Chairman of the Delhi Public School Society addressed the guests and expressed the view that the primary requirement of a good teacher is to be ‘a good learner, one who is open to new ideas and ready to go beyond the prescribed syllabi to turn the students into thinking individuals.’ Mr.Chandra emphasized the importance of such workshops in a scenario of rapid technological development where the requirements of children are undergoing a change. He stressed on the need for teachers to stay abreast of all developments. The Vice Principal, Mrs.Shobha Mehta delivered the vote of thanks.
The workshop began with an IT presentation about the latest trends in Educational Technology. The main sessions had eminent speakers from various fields who discussed methods to make classroom teaching more interdisciplinary and interesting. Other issues such as tapping multiple intelligence in children and the correct implementation of CCE were taken up through interactive group activities.
The workshop provided a wonderful opportunity for teachers to hone their teaching skills and to interact with others in the field and learn from others.
