Aditya Agarwalla of Class X-I was awarded the Times NIE Student of the year. He received a trophy, a certificate and a scholarship/gift voucher of Rs.1000.

 
DELHI STATE ITF TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP 2009
 
The Medal Winner of "21st DELHI STATE ITF TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP 2009". The Championship held at G. D. Goenka Public School, Sector-10, Dwarka, New Delhi from 27th to 29th November 2009.

 
DPS R.K.PURAM STUDENT SPARKLES AT FACT UNIVERSAL TEEN PAGEANT
 
Shreya Ishita at the Fact Universal Teen Pageant

Shreya Ishita, a student of Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram who has recently passed out ( 2009 batch), has brought laurels to the school when she became THE FIRST RUNNER UP at FACT UNIVERSAL TEEN PAGEANT.

Fact Universal Teen Pageant is a beauty pageant of National Repute started by the FACT ENTERPRISES this year. It gives a platform to young girls to showcase their talent, beauty and intelligence in front of a national as well as International audience. Diana Hayden- Miss World 1997 was the brand ambassador of the pageant.

After rigorous auditions and selection process judged by Diana Hayden and Rocky S- a well known fashion designer, Shreya made it among the top 25 contestants chosen from amongst almost twenty-five thousand girl participants from all over the country. She was a part of 10 episode long reality shoot on Channel 9x which featured the grooming process the contestants underwent for the finale. During her stay in Mumbai for the shoot, Shreya along with other contestants was trained in different areas of fashion by people well known in their respective fields. Ramp walk training was given by Alison Kanuga- a name that does not require any introduction in the fashion world. Contemporary dance training was given by Akash Karnataki ,a well known Bollywood choreographer. During the pageant several subtitles were given to contestants. Shreya was crowned ‘Miss Beautiful Hair’ for her naturally healthy hair.

The finale was a huge star-studded event held in Mumbai and judged by Diana Hayden, Rocky S, Sangith Sivan- Bollywood and Malayalam film director, Alison Kanuga and Madhu Mantena- the producer of Ghajini. It was telecast Live On Channel 9x. Shreya was among the 5 girls who based on their performances in the talent round were chosen to perform live on the finale. After several rounds of catwalk, interaction with the judges and question and answer round Shreya was declared the first runner up. She thus proved her talent and intelligence and was crowned by Diana Hayden.

Based on her performance Shreya will participate in an International Teen Beauty Pageant to be held in U.S.A next year. Currently Shreya is fortunate to have many offers from the glamour world as a result of winning the pageant. She however gives education more importance and is currently a freshman pursuing an undergraduate degree in Physics and Economics at Tufts University in Boston on scholarship.

We wish her luck for her future endeavours and hope to see her become well-known in whichever field she chooses to go to.

 
DPS R.K.PURAM STUDENTS WIN INTER- SCHOOL QUIZ ON ENVIRONMENT & CLIMATE CHANGE
 

IYCN(ndian outh Climate Network), 350.org, and Seeds India in collaboration with Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri organized an Inter School Environment Quiz, QryptiQ, at Sanskriti School, on the 23rd of November, exactly 2 weeks before the Copenhagen Summit to involve the students in understanding and joining the movement against climate change.

After qualifying the written quiz, only six teams were selected for the final round on the stage.

Two teams from DPS R.K.Puram comprising Samiran Mukherji, Nayan Agarwal and Prakhyat Roop , Akshat Mishra won first and second prizes respectively in the final mock quiz segment.

Ten schools with 3 teams each participated in the quiz in the first round.

On the 3rd December 2009, the Indian School hosted its annual Dr. Amidas Goradia English Debate. Students from 14 schools including D.P.S. Vasant Kunj, Ryan International, Sanskriti were asked to debate on various topics such as “Pakistan is just a piece of land” and “President Obama deserves the Nobel prize”.

The D.P.S. R.K.Puram comprising of Aditya Mitra, Trisha Gupta, Kanav Mayar bagged the Rolling trophy for the 2nd year running. Trisha Gupta was also awarded the “Best Speaker” award.

 
Award for Suramya Sharma of XI-P
 


Miss Suramya Sharma, a student of class XI-P at DPS RKPuram was awarded with late Shri Ambalal Hingad Smriti Samman at a function organized by Jagmag Deep Jyoti magazine at Alwar (Raj.) on 8th Nov '09. She has received an appreciation certificate, momento, shawl and Rs. 1100/- cash.

This program was organized on the beginning of silver jubilee year, of the monthly magazine "Jagmag Deep Jyoti". Suramya performed a Kathak Dance in front of the literary legends arrived from all over the country. Suramya was awarded for her multidimensional contribution in the field of literature (story writing), Kathak Dance and music.
