International Admissions 2013
A new and unmatched world record!
In 2013 new records have been set by students of DPS R K Puram!

  1. This year 21 students of the school secured admission to all the 8 Ivy League Universities, some of them with full scholarship. They are Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, U-Penn and Yale.

  2. Three of our students secured admission to more than one Ivy League institution: Shreya Vardhan secured admission to 5 of them, namely, Harvard (Early Action), Columbia, Cornell, Yale and Princeton, all with 100% scholarship. Sonali Chauhan secured admission to 4 , namely, Yale, Brown, U-Penn and Cornell. And Kartik Srivastava secured admission to 2 i.e. U-Penn and Yale.

  3. Three students of the school, namely Shreya Vardhan, Akshay Sawhney and Prateek Alkesh, who secured admission to Cornell University in the US, were selected as Cornell University Tata Scholars, and are recipients of the Tata scholarship for students from India. This scholarship will support their entire undergraduate education at Cornell, along with living costs and other expenses. This is the largest number of students selected from a single school in the country – a feather in the cap of DPS RK Puram!

  4. In recognition of this outstanding achievement, these three students, along with their families, were invited to attend the Tata Scholarship Recognition Luncheon hosted by the University at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Apollo Bunder, Mumbai, on Sunday, 7th April, 2013. Air fare, accommodation and transportation, were provided to them free of cost.

  5. This year, 5 students gained admission to the University of Pennsylvania, namely Dhruv Baid (Early Decision), Kartik Srivastava, Sonali Chauhan, Ishita Batra and Aarzoo Malik, which is an unprecedented record! And Sonali Chauhan was also selected for the prestigious Huntsman Program, which includes studying at Wharton, along with International Relations and one foreign language. Sonali has indeed done the school proud, as this is the first time a student has been selected for the Huntsman Program from the school.

  6. It was a proud moment for the school when three students secured admission to the University of Washington in St. Louis, a very prestigious university with a large number of Nobel Laureates in their faculty. The students are Rohil Bedi (Biology), Ishita Batra (Biology) and Akshita Singh Tyagi (Economics).

  7. Akshita is also the first and only Indian to be awarded 100% scholarship by the Universty of Rochester, along with $20,000/- p.a. for personal expenses.

  8. For the first time in the history of the school, Pratham Alag secured admission to the University of California, Berkeley with the prestigious Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship. This is the first time that an Indian student has received this scholarship from UC Berkeley, which includes financial aid, extendable up to 100% (covering all costs) and an honorarium of $2500 per annum, along with other benefits.

This year, the school has once again created history by securing 28 admissions to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), 23 admissions to University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and 23 admissions to University of California, San Diego. This record is unmatched by any other school in the country or abroad.

This year our students have secured admission to all the 8 Ivy League Universities, some of them with full scholarship. They are Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, U-Penn and Yale. The total number of admissions secured in these institutions are 19.

Shreya Vardhan secured admission to five Ivy League Universities - namely, Harvard (Early Action), Columbia, Cornell, Yale and Princeton, all with 90-100% scholarship. She has joined Harvard University in the Fall Session, 2013.

100% Scores in International Exams

Shreya Vardhan of class XII-F, secured a full score of 2400/2400 in the SAT Reasoning Test, held on 28th January, 2012; she also secured full scores in the SAT Subject Tests: Physics - 800/800, Mathematics Level II - 800/800, Chemistry - 800/800, held on 5th May, 2012; and in the TOEFL she scored 120/120, held on 9th June, 2012. She also secured full marks in AP Physics - C Mechanics - 5/5; AP Calculus AB - 5/5; and AP Chemistry - 5/5.

AWARDS AND HONORS

National and State Level Awards

One of the 20 students selected by the Times Scholars program on 3rd November, 2012 to receive a merit scholarship of Rs 5 lakh. The award was instituted by the leading newspaper of India, The Times of India, and the five-stage selection process involved a written test and interviews with eminent personalities from the field of education. Out of the 45,000 participants from across the country, the 20 winners were selected on the basis of both scholastic aptitude and a vision for the future.

Worked with differently-abled children

Developed a software to help autistic and other differently-abled children meet their learning requirements, which is being used by the Umeed Foundation, the Tamana Foundation Nai Disha School, The Tamana Auitistic Centre-School of Hope, and Action for Autism, New Delhi.

Worked as a volunteer at the Umeed Foundation, a school for autistic and other differently-abled children, since December, 2011.

Worked as a volunteer with the Tamana Foundation since August, 2012.

Taught underpriviledged children.

Taught students of classes 8 to 10 at the Anubhav Shiksha Kendra, a school for underprivileged children, from 2011-2013.
